Doing all the things Tuesday

Oh, how exciting a new, or renewed, journey can be! We've talked about it. We've procrastinated. We've made excuses. We've overslept, and laid on the couch. We. Are. Ready. It's yoga time! See how far I have fallen. Watch how far I will rise. Flexibility is at an all time low. This is good though, it works as motivation. I'm teaming up with Yoga by Candace on her 31 day challenge. I've restarted the November challenge she issued, but she is starting a new challenge per her Instagram today. Eep! I chose Ardha Baddha Paschimottanasana, or, half bound lotus west extension for us Okies. This is how I should look, and at one time, I did. Journey. It's a journey. Hop over to her Instagram , YouTube , or website to check it out for yourself. I'm in no way affiliated, just motivated and inspired. That's why I'm here, to share mine and help yours. ________________________________________________________________________ Eats Las

It's Thursday, who's wearing khakis???? NOT ME!!!! Black skirt, black tights, black shooties....looooooong jacket. Yeah. Haha! I know Prell got that. I have a monster bruise on my leg, so no bare skin today. That doesn't mean I couldn't wear long khakis, but I've grown tired of the few I have. Today at lunch I discovered a package on my front porch. What is it?! (drumroll please......................) MY FIRST FIX!!! I know....I'm turning into one of 'those' people. But, think about it. I've tried a bunch of new things in 2015, just for fun. I didn't continue Blue Apron, but I did try it. I've tried new foods, but didn't necessarily keep eating them. I've tried new fitness options, but may have backslid to my old ways. I Hulu and Netflix instead of DishNetwork. I even bought a tablet, but I only use it for blogging and movies. I'm trying to try things, but that doesn't mean I'm staying on the bandwagon.

Straighten up and fall right

Happy Wed-uh-nes-day to you. I overslept, again, and didn't accomplish any predawn physical activity. Sorry neighbor! I left you stranded in the driveway at 5am! I made it back to the chiropractor today since my lower back has been agonizing. I hadn't been since just before Thanksgiving and I could tell. While there I got my necklace caught on the table and broke it (but fixed it), cried because the bad, bad pain felt really good at the same time, and then I fell off of the sidewalk on my way to my truck. Good thing I have another appointment scheduled... 129 days until the OKC Run to Remember! What am I going to do? I have a sore ankle now, no discipline, and less enthusiasm than a proctology intern. Remember this? 30 minutes before the start of the 2015 OKC Marathon. I can't wait to get back there! Thankfully Christmas is almost here. I'm about worn out on plans for that, but presents are always fun! Did you buy my yoga mat yet? There's still time!

Crochet Tuesday and ...things?

Image
TUESDAY!!!!!! How long has it been since I did girls night with M? I don't remember either! Tonight is old fashioned, throwback, doin' it up, ladies night. You know what that means....tacos and complaining in sweatpants!!! Actually, I'll be working on some Christmas crochet projects while she vents/updates me on life on Pine Street. Here is one project I'll be making: You can check out the creators post and pattern here on Little Monkeys Crochet.  I have high hopes for a good result. You know I always do, and then it doesn't, and then I just give up. At least I'm consistent. No, I didn't work out. No, I didn't run. No, I didn't yoga. Oh! Yoga! Hey blog-fans. If you needed a last minute idea for Christmas, for me, and you have money to blow, here is what I want. Go here and buy one now! Please? You can ship it straight to my office and I promise to upload a picture of me using it. Ok...at least standing on it.  The tradit

Hello there! I got my google photos to sync again! It's been over a month since I was last here with you, and longer than that since I had functioning sync. It's a bit sad how reliant we are on technology. Let's get it out of the way: I'm sorry. Ok, now, that we are super friends again, I want to get you up to speed. Unfortunately I don't have pictures for EVERY exciting moment of the past 4-6 weeks, but I do have a lot. Let's see what I've been up to! I'm sticking by my belief that this is a positive thought. It really could turn the other way quickly. WORST. THING. EVER In November our Leadership group toured 5 of the largest employers in our area, aside from the hospital. My favorite was Cardinal Glass. I faced my fear and walked along side a 1/4 mile length piece of continually moving glass. It starts as sand, then in 3000 degree temps becomes a blob that eventually becomes the most terrifying, scary, bad, bad thing: Glas

M-ugh-nday!

Image
Hello everyone! I sure hope you had a great weekend, I know I did! Let's start this M-ugh-nday off with a bang, ok?! 1st: You're going to get a dose of  'Doing all the things' Tuesday tomorrow, so get on the edge of your seat. ...on second thought, don't do that. You'd be there for about 24 hours and that's really bad for your lower back. 2nd: It was cold this weekend, and I'm here to admit that I didn't want to die. I know, right? 3rd: I had a free doughnut today. Don't look at me like that. 4th: I've been marathon-ing. New Girl, Parks and Rec (again), Scrubs, SNL, and Brooklyn 99. What? You thought I meant running?! Hahaha! Check out point #2 again for the reason I'm not running. Duh. 5th: Soooo many things coming up. Remember when I posted way back in March about the list of fun things coming up? This is round 2! From now through 1/2/16 I have something on the calendar every weekend! I'll start naming names as they come c

When you lose your feeling

I haven't been blogging much lately, and I'm sorry about that. Actually, I'm not really sorry as it doesn't really affect anyone, but I'm sorry somehow. I've been busy doing my own things. I haven't run much since my 10k. My time in that race really got me down, and I have had moments of reconsidering my choice of exercise. I'm not quitting, I don't think I could. I am taking a break though. Since we've rolled time back it's now too dark to run after work, and I'm not quite back to running in the morning. My pants aren't happy about it, but they don't get a vote. Fall is a season for layers anyway, so we'll just pretend I'm still fit. :) I did get the sink installed...almost. It runs water, and drains, so I can brush my teeth in the bathroom again. My plumber has to come back to make some adjustments to the p-trap so we can get the storage drawer in, I need to finish the floor underneath, and thanks to an uneven sub fl

Sink! Sink! Sink! and keeping up with the Jones'.

Image
Tomorrow is sink day!!!!!!!!!!!! Here is an update of how far I've gotten with the floor. It's not done, nor is it perfect, but enough is complete to have the sink put in tomorrow. What a great way to end Khaki Thursday tomorrow!!! Actually, I have a little more done since this picture was taken, but you get the idea. Hey, they don't pay me to blog, so don't nit-pick! Once it's complete I'll post all pictures so you can see the entire transformation from Ugly to Liveable. (that's my standard these days) Last night we went to the BCM halloween Monster Mash. Who were we dressed as? The Jones'. The BEST kind of Jones'. Indiana Jones and Dr. Henry Jones. "Docta Jones! Docta Jones!" What's hotter than Sean Connery and Harrison Ford? Us as Sean Connery and Harrison Ford! Ok, so that's all for me. I'm really lazy at blogging lately, but you've probably filled the void with comic strips and fortune cookies.

A feeling on a Friday

Sometimes you just have to trust God and go with it. I'm so thankful for the opportunities I've gotten during my life, good and bad, that have shaped me into the chick that I am. I want to radiate the love of Christ through patience, understanding, and hospitality. I think helping and giving are in my bones. I get so excited when I know of an opportunity to lend a hand, lend a shoulder, lend a room, lend a car, whatever it may be. It's what Jesus did, and what He wants us to WANT to do. Oh, but my little mind gets in the way. Don't think for a second that it's easy to give out of lack. It may be true that the less fortunate give a higher percentage of themselves than those well-off, but, that doesn't mean that it is done without worry from time to time. I've tithed BIG amounts, and right before I do, I always worry about that time coming when I'll say "oh, if only I had held on to that money". My stomach knots and my heart races. Then I

Bathroom update!!!!!!! I stayed up late because I couldn't stand it. There was flooring to be installed, who can sleep at a time like that? Here is (almost) the starting line. I had already pulled some of the linoleum up so I could inspect the sub-floor. The flooring wasn't glued to the sub-floor at all! While that is maddening because it was lazy, it turned out to be a help because I didn't have to scrape. A 'w' is a 'w'. Yesterday I mentioned that I liked the bare plywood better than the old linoleum. Here it is (with weird, extra long bathmat that I hate). It's ugly, yes. but wood grain really is better than fake stone speckle, don't you think? Upper right corner behind the tub shows all the patchwork done to smooth out the 437 pieces of plywood someone cut to make a square. Sometimes, people....smh. I started in the squarest corner of the bathroom, so I could get a straight line. I planned to snap a chalk line for certainty, but didn&#

Bosses day was last Friday and my girls remembered. It made Friday so sweet! They know me well, OU, coffee, and scarves.  ______________________________________________________________________ Running around, doing all the things   I ran the 10k for Colton's Main Street run. I'm not sure what I was doing, but I did it for 1:16 instead of my planned 58 minutes. Meh, I finished. The dude smoked me, despite all my prep. He got the sub58 time, although he paid for it in the following days. Thank goodness for Epsom salts. His momma got 1st in her age division, and beat the times of most women under her. I'm glad I'm not competing against her, she's amazing! Runner friend was literally the LAST 10k-er as she ran the 1 mile fun run with her kiddos first, and then headed out on the route. She had a police escort the entire way. Running is about enjoyment. If watching the butterflies and making up songs is what you like to do while runnin

So many days have passed

Hi friends. If you're here, thank you! I'm very sorry for the delay in updates. My life has been a bit hectic lately, with the naps, and the running, and ....well, the stuff I normally do that you like to hear about! Sometimes we just get lost in our lives and forget to share. I know, that's 100% ok! You don't mind at all! I want you to know that I WANT to share things with you. That's why I blog! I promise to take very few breaks, and I promise they won't be as long as the 2014 break. So, here I am. I back! What have I been up to? Let's do a quick recap, and then we'll sit pretty until tomorrow for the full story. Running Sleeping Running Working Movies Bathroom remodel!!! Reading - sorta Cooking Tea Stuffs. I can't get my pics to sync to my Google account, so I'm having to do it manually. This is holding up production on amazing posts, and also slowing my desire to take pictures. Come back on TUESDAY!!! for a picture dump o

I did do all the things!

Whoa! It's Tuesday! Here we are, creeping through another week. How was your weekend? Were you off work Monday? Or Friday? I took Monday off. You're welcome everyone. I try to do what I can so that I don't turn off the lights and lock the doors. Things I did between Friday and Tuesday: Eat Sleep Hike Walk, walk, and walk some more Wash dishes Eat Sit by the campfire Stargaze Sleep Sweat Freeze Eat Sneeze Swim (see 'freeze') Laugh Cry ....not really. Hahaha, but you could expect it from me. Overthink (there it is, there's the me you know) Peel pomegranates Relax Putting on grown up clothes and sitting behind a desk was a real challenge today. I honestly believe I could walk away from everything and just wander for the rest of my life. I probably can't do it, but I feel like I'd be good at it. Like usual, I let everyone else take pictures and so I never have any these days. I'm so lazy. It's a good thing I'm not

F is for Friday!!!

Free BBQ on Friday? Sign me up. We had lunch at the office, I have really big hair, OU is gonna own the field tomorrow, and I only have a few hours left until I'm free!!! Despite the rainy forecast, this weekend is all about relaxing. Don't try to get me on my phone. I won't be watching any P&R on my tablet. No football (sad face). Just fresh air and campfires. Maybe I'll go to sleep and not wake up until Monday evening. Ahh....that's the dream. ______________________________________________________________________ ...2DiG Ladies group met last night (finally) for week #2 of To Live is Christ, To Die is Gain. What does a mature christian life look like? Well, my answer: I don't know; and that's the point. My life IS maturing in Christ because I'm constantly seeking. None of us have it figured out, so if we're all still searching reaching trying praying retrying dying loving falling failing praying ....then we are, in fact

TWPICK Thursday is actually OU/Texas eve eve.

Good day to ya! It's good ol' khaki Thursday and I'm in my seat and jacked up on caffeine. Today I took my #IDriveFor picture at the office. I drive for Janice, a previous co-worker, and almost birthday twin. She fought and beat cancer because she is totally amazing. While there has been buzz about the Susan G. Komen foundation not donating the majority of their money to research, the attention alone has saved numerous lives. I know more about breast cancer now since it became a 'trending topic' than I learned organically in the years prior. So donate, celebrate, participate...just help beat it! (singing MJ right there) I am forming a very close relationship with my foam roller. I told the dude that if it starts telling me I'm pretty, he might have some serious competition. _______________________________________________________________________ Run Report Another 4 miles last night. Mile 1: 12:20 Mile 2: 12:01 (negative!) Mile 3: 12:

Free-zza is a bad idea

Ugh, hey all. Take my advice, don't eat a ton of pizza just because it is free. You will pay in other ways. Blarch.... On with Wednesday! My neighbor cancelled today because of illness, so I slept in. That was terrible. We won't talk about that. Tonight I will be running 4-5 miles with (long lost) runner friend. I should have some mile splits and feelings for you tomorrow. If we don't run, you know I'll at least have some feelings for you. ...don't I always? Today I get to pick up some prints at Walgreen's. Real photos! I love printing pictures. We have gotten so accustomed to having them all at our digital-loving fingertips that we forget we can have them for real. I did not ask permission of the other people in the pictures, so, they'll just have to deal with it. :) Prell, fave, ma, broseph, SIL, and nephew, get over it. I have a camping trip this weekend that I am preparing for. I'm sure I'll eat way too much food and be miserable. So stay

Doing all the running things.

Today, lets talk about running. Friday night. 4 miles.  49:26 with one negative split. Monday night. 4 miles. 47:40 with one negative split. Faster than Friday.  Tuesday morning. 2 miles. 22:32 with a major negative split. Running with someone that has a faster pace helps....Thanks A. You rock.  Thoughts while running last night: Oh man, I'm totally going to rock this. Just start out slow, that way you can have negative splits. Negative splits...isn't that also a yoga thing? Hmm. Ok, here I go, good pace. My feet are heavy. Did I put chaffing gel on my arch? Get a drink. Am I bouncing too much? I hate this shirt. Running, running, running, whoa uneven pavement! Uphill, awesome. Lean forward. Am I leaning too far forward? Do I need to lean back on the downhill? Are my feet thudding? Tra-lah-lah, tra-lah-lah. CAR!!! Is that a runner? No, she's walking. Is that guy on the bike botheri

TWPICK Thursday, and where has the time gone?

Salut! So sorry for my hiatus, friends. I didn't mean to leave you hanging. I don't have pictures yet from last weekend, and another event is creeping up. I promise to post them eventually, maybe, if I think about it. This weekend I have 5 reminders of events on my phone, and I can't attend them all. The problem with having a lot of people you love, that love you and want you around, is that you don't have time for them all AND if you cram as much in as possible, you end up with no free time on the weekend. 1st world probs. ______________________________________________________________________ Running in circles I intended to run last night, but then I didn't so.... I did lay on the foam roller to stretch my back and listened to my French language app while doing so. I should get a few miles in tomorrow morning, and get back to running early next week. Maybe. ______________________________________________________________________  High price or low qu

No, yes, and maybe

Good Monday morning all! I see we are all a little droopy eyed today. Mondays are the worst way to start a week. But look at it this way, we're closer to the weekend! Quick weekend recap: Running: No. I didn't do any exercise. Sleeping in: Yes, I did do some of that. Maybe: there are lots of those, we won't even begin to peel that onion. I was busy with shoe shopping, hair playing, cleaning, gown wearing, laughing, friend making, cuddling, exploring, and generally doing things that make me smile. I was blessed Saturday night (and again Sunday) to finally spend some time getting to know a very wonderful, very kind and loving, very important person. He was integral to my life, before I knew it. God showed me where He had been working long before I came up with my "plan". I'm smiling just thinking about how wonderful this new friendship is. _______________________________________________________________________ Tomorrow morning should be run-fi

Is it really Friday? Team building Thursday.

Image
Oh what fun it is....to jump off of a 30ft pole on Khaki Thursday. Yesterday was just a regular ole day, you know, traipsing through the woods, building fake bridges, carrying strangers through pretend spiderwebs, and doing trust falls. What? Just a day at the office. Well, I wish that was my 'office'. I'd do it every day if I could. Our area Leadership team went to a team building day at a local camp, and it was F.U.N. I see why the past members have said that you make life-long friends in this class. I feel like I am. Since I'm not from 'round these parts, I've struggled to make deep connections with people as friends. Yesterday felt like a turning point for me. Runners form bonds on the streets. Church group members form bonds through Scripture. BF/GFs form bonds of the heart. But in professional situations, it's difficult to really connect with people that you may only see once a month, or only communicate across town via phone or email. I
