Put on your apron, and let's do all the things!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's Tuesday, finally. Did you think that Monday was going to last forever? I did! Last night we made Blue Apron meal #3. Mexican style chicken tortas with tomato, cucumber, and avocado salad. Our avocado went bad before we could get to this meal, but he wasn't heartbroken about that. I was. :(  The sandwiches and salad were sans avo, but you'd never know. Also, I skipped the cilantro given the recent illnesses in the news. I doubt mine was part of that, but just to be safe. (remember 'sketchy burrito' back in March? we don't want to go down that road again) We started with marinating red onion in red wine vinegar. Half was for the salad, and half was for the sandwiches. The salad was made of diced tomato, diced cucumber, avocado (omitted), sliced, marinated onion, salt and pepper, and a little olive oil. I squeezed a lime wedge over it also since I didn't need it for the avocado. The chicken was seasoned with a premade season mix. I...

Well, that's (not) fair Wednesday, new things are scary, and RAIN.

I hate technology.  I hate it before it can hate me.  It's stupid.  It makes me crazy.  I cried because I couldn't figure out my username and password to Spotify so I could log into it on my new digital doodad. I cried and yelled at A DEVICE! Gah.  I can't connect my tablet to my to my TV. I bought 2 adapters and nothing.  I can blog.  I can Spotify (finally). I can Pinterest.  I feel like Leah is yelling. Rant over. Sorry. :) _______________________________________________________________________ When fair is not fair I like to be happy. Making other people happy makes me happy, but that is hard sometimes. I'm circling back to that 'dying to oneself' issue we all have. Don't we just love to be justified in our feelings? When we are angry because someone made us angry, or when we are sad because someone made us sad; we want to point it out so they will understand, agree, and apologize. How often does that happen though? And,...

It's a rock!!!, It's a twister!!!, and doing all the things.

Image
We survived the weekend. Flooding, tornadoes, flooding, wind, coyotes, giant rocks, and flooding. I didn't 'holiday' like normal, and I can't say that I'm sad. I had a really great Memorial Day weekend doing the things I like most. Napping, cleaning, and hanging with my favorites.   We visited the dam Friday, and the spillway before it crested. Facebook and Instagram are full of pictures of the lake over the years. This is only the 4th time on record that we have had this kind of flooding. The previous 4 years have been near drought conditions, so anyone that wasn't around for 20-ot-7 or prior (meaning me) is getting a pretty cool experience. The bridge across Lake Texoma was closed yesterday for a short time, but has reopened. We are mainly dry today and tomorrow, however, runoff is a major issue. The spillway is 640ft above sea level, and the lake is at 642.89ft and rising. They are monitoring the bridge closely; we assume it will be close...

Why the face Wednesday, caught in the Act, and I hate running.

Image
I'm already done with today. It's only 10:15am, and I'm done. I know you feel me on this. I was awake a lot during the night with the weather, it was pouring at 5am so I missed my morning run/walk, I couldn't make it to the gym, and then I had to get out of bed and adult. Puh... There is a season for all things, and today's season is for not doing any of the things I should do. Thank goodness ' Prell will be here late tonight, she can relate to my lack of enthusiasm. __________________________________________________________________________ Caught in the Act Peter and John were arrested for preaching the truth about Jesus. They stuck together, they didn't back down, they looked the council in the eye and told them to judge but they would still tell everyone who Jesus really is. We spend our days working, playing, loving, fighting, sleeping, eating, etc. We are so busy doing what we 'have' to get done, and likely never see the end ...

Sun-day on a Monday, headaches teach me things, and do you remember Gypsy Tingles?

Image
It's sun-day on a Monday! There is a big bright thing outside. We aren't sure what to make of it, but it sure is pretty. It has rained here since last Monday or Tuesday(maybe?). Every day brought thunderstorm warnings, tornado watches, tornado warnings, and a constant flash flood warning. We are so water-logged. Roads are washed out, rivers are out of their banks, and tomato plants are hanging on for dear life. Let's catch up on my weekend ok? Here we go! __________________________________________________________________________  Where the wind comes sweepin' down the plain We had a rockin' weather weekend. This was our view from the fire station near my house. The rotation was about 6 miles west of us (looking straight at it). There wasn't a confirmed touch down, but there was a lot of roof damage, and downed trees. These pictures are courtesy of local storm chasers. This tornado and supercell were products of the storm that tracked from Sherm...

#Facethefuschia, being the caregiver, and what to do this weekend?

Image
How much do you like BBQ? Let me tell you about some Okies from the FBC that would face the fuschia to get some Smokin' Joes. 1 1/2 hr drive, in blinding rain, in construction, on a major highway, in a church bus with a bad tire... 11 people, most under 21, on a mission from God to get the best BBQ around. Ok, maybe God didn't send us out for smoked chicken and brisket, but I bet if He tried it, he'd most definitely want us to go. It was a very thrilling trip. We all laughed a lot, maybe too much at times. Laughter can help you escape the reality of danger. Maybe we shouldn't have been so aloof. Oh well! Tra lah lah, tra lah lah. We made it to dinner, an hour ahead of closing (that's a whole different story) and ate until we were tired. We stopped by Falls Creek for a minute, and headed back to town. The return trip was less threatening, but no less stressful. Oh, the joys of group travel. ___________________________________________________________________...

Spring cleaning and doing all the things!

Image
Good Tuesday to you!!!! It is soup-er muggy here today. Tomorrow looks like a stormy day, so today we run. By we I mean me; and by run I mean make my ponytail bounce as I move at a speed slightly faster than a walk. Our computer system went down at work before I had even finished my morning coffee at home. Who gets the call? Me. The girl that doesn't own a computer or have the internet; or know how to use her smartphone totally; or how to use an iPod (that she can't find. more on that later)  We got it back up and running at 4:22pm. You can imagine my day. I think in the future I'll just get a big ball of wires to wrap around me so everyone will believe I'm working on the issue.   So my iPod. I have a little shuffle that clips on. I loaded music on it in about...oh....2006? I've never updated it. I lost it in 2012 when I clipped it to a box in my closet. It was reunited with me last summer (2014). I used it one whole time, and lost it again. Dang. I hav...

Running again, and doing all the things.

Image
The clouds have parted, the sun is shining, and this curly girl is alive again. A very dark winter took me away from many of the things I loved, including blogging. As I mentioned in a past post, I went through a divorce in 2014. It wasn't a terrible divorce, or a lengthy, angry divorce. It was however a lengthy separation; 2+ years. When the final court date arrived, and the papers were signed, I felt a huge weight lifted off of me. I've taken some time since then to adjust to the thought of no longer bearing the label of 'wife' or 'partner' or 'companion'. I started that adjustment when the separation started in 2012, but it became real when the divorce was filed. Once it was final, the idea fit better, like pair of running shoes after a few miles. :)  You just have to wear it a bit in order for it to become part of you. Although my identity is not defined by my relationship labels, it is something we wear, and therefore should take time to be comfor...
