Blogging is like life, audiobooks, and kiddie-pool thoughts

How long has it been since my blog really made sense? I used to post daily, with regular features, and had some nice points from time to time.

Blogging takes up a lot of time, in case you weren't aware. You have to plan your posts, write down your thoughts, organize the details, type it out, add pictures (because words are NEVER enough), proof-read, agonize over the look/tone/feel of the post. Once you finally publish it, you have to resist the urge to check 152 times a day to see how many views you have. Then you have views, but no comments. You find yourself thinking "Who is reading my blog in Russia? Why did 8 people read it and have no comment? Mom, did you check my blog from both phones, the tablet, the laptop, and call Cousin Pam so she could 'view' it too? You're not helping. ....check back tomorrow though".

Blogging took up so much of my time, but I loved it. Then, I fell in love with something else. Someone else. Then I got back into running, another love of mine. After that, I decided to pursue YTT, a long-time love affair with my mat.

I love a lot of things! You all are going to have to find a new blog if I ever have children; I'll likely never come back to the blog then!

So, life is full lately, and blogging just hasn't been at the top of the list. Sure, I lay in bed at night thinking of all the super funny things I could post for you to read. I imagine you stifling belly laughs, and wiping away tears at your desk, hoping your co-workers don't notice. Maybe they'll just think you have bad gas, and you're trying to be polite. However, by the time I get to this page on any given day, I'm so buried in other thoughts, that I'd be more likely to post my 'to-do' list that is on my desk, and hope you don't block me from your reading list to ensure no one ever associates you with my crazy, boring, lame-o blog. Please don't block me.

Since it's Tuesday, and I sometimes have things to talk about, I'm here to just give you a little nibble today. Enjoy.

I've finally started an audiobook. Oh, my reading dilemma. For years we've talked about me wanting to read again, and just not doing it. I rejected audiobooks thus far, save for one special book that I listened to in middle school, in order to get out of reading it for a report: 'A Christmas Carol' read by Patrick Stewart. Yeah, I know, you can't NOT want to listen to that one. After that, I hadn't found myself ever wanting to listen to a book for hours on end. I tried to listen to something, ...gee, I can't recall now, it must have been that boring, while painting my downstairs bathroom. I ended up turning on FRIENDS and ignored my dissolving intellect. At one point I had the Audible app, but never used it. The guy finally got Overdrive, which our library uses, and it convinced me to do the same. This meant I had to renew my library card as well. That went missing years ago.

Oh, I wanted to start with something intellectual, or inspirational. Something that would really impress any passengers I may have. Currently listening to: 'Why Not Me' by Mindy Kaling. Let's be
real, I'm a sucker for humor, and I'm not very serious. Life is too short to fall asleep at the wheel listening to a terribly boring book, just because it is a "classic". Pick what you want, lock the doors, and don't offer rides to people that will judge your literary selections. They have feet, make them walk.

I have a lot of books on hold, so I'll come back and update you on my selections, and maybe do a guest post now and then over at Punch Drunk Thirty. She loves to read. For now, I'll press on through the light reality that is Mindy, and her funny take on the hand she was dealt.

In closing: find something you love, and love it as much as you can love it. Find something you want to love, and squeeze it until you love it and it loves you back. Hold things hostage, because if you let them go, they may not come back; and life is about getting things, keeping them, having more of them than anyone else, and being the winner. Right??

It's Boston Marathon day!!! (Insom-nazon purchases)

Yes, these two things are related. Really? I promise.

Good luck to all the runners in the 121st Boston Marathon! I, your friendly running curl, am not there today. I did run 12 miles (in my heart) yesterday. My feet only made for 8.7. I was fighting the barfs after Easter lunch. Did you run that far? Ok, so holster your judgement.

OKC Memorial Run to Remember 1/2 is only 2 weeks away! Can you believe it? I'm excited/disappointed/nervous/scared/meh about it. It will come, I will run, I will finish, I will eat. Isn't that what happy endings are all about?

I don't know if I'll have all of the purchases here, but I've brought a few for you to look at.

I bought 2 dresses on Amazon recently. One for work, and one for Easter, then work.

I'm in love with the reviews section on Amazon. Women adding pictures of themselves actually wearing the items helps SO much.

Both dresses were under $30 each, fit perfect, and looked great.

I did it. I jumped on the ProCompression treadmill. They had their 'Buy 2, get 3 free' promo, and I couldn't resist. Do you see my Boston Strong socks? I told you the post was all related. Tee-hee. Those went out with me yesterday for my Easter run.

Their full length socks are normally $50 -$55 each, so paying $20/pair was a steal...in a runners mind.

Yes, I still spent $100 on socks, but my legs don't hurt.

I justify most of my expensive purchases by reminding people that I don't get my hair done, nor do I get my nails done. Those are regular, expensive lady costs. This is mine.

My friends opened a sno-cone stand. I'm most excited about the shirts. I've worn this shirt after work every day for the last week.

I love the comfort colors brand.

Review post: Four Sigmatic mushroom coffee and tea

Coffee. You know I love you, but you hurt my bladder.

Introducing Four Sigmatic!!!

I received a box of 10 packets of their coffee with Lion's mane in my winter 2016 Mantra box from YOGABYCANDACE. I'm never afraid to try new (weird) things, especially if they are made from an offbeat natural source.

I am in the bliss.

I love this stuff. Not only does it have some caffeine to pep me up, but it somehow doesn't give me the jitters. You know I got serious jitters from coffee. Body jitters and the heart jitters. (So scary) No worries here.

Prepackaged, ground coffee mix infused with mushrooms. Chaga is a counter to the acidity that causes stomach issues with coffee for some people, and likely my bladder issues. Lion's mane is used in Chinese medicine for it's cognitive boosting power.I'm no doctor, but I can tell you from my experience that this is a great alternative to your regular office coffee. I've purchased 3 boxes (one in the Mantra box) and have ingested all 30 packets. It is well worth the money, which is more than the free coffee at work, but less than any coffee from a coffee shop.

Last week I purchased a box of the Reishi Elixer. This is a night-night tea. It's sweet on it's own, thanks to the added Organic Stevia. It's said to regulate the hormonal system and lower cortisol levels in an attempt to increase deep, slow-wave sleep. This tea puts me to sleep in under 5 minutes. I feel sleepy before I'm done drinking it! Today I woke up feeling like I had been asleep for 100 years. I was refreshed, and crazy ready for my day.

I don't know what information I'm allowed to share since I'm not affiliated with Four Sigmatic, but I have dropped a link to their website here so that you can read all about it yourself! Give it a try!

Khaki Thursday and updates

What's up blogosphere?

Today is khaki Thursday and I'm wearing my most responsible pair of khakis. I have to do a few interviews this afternoon to fill an open position in my office. I can't have them thinking I prefer to be barefoot in running tights! I have to look like a boring, conservative boss-lady. #bosslady

Monday began the weightloss challenge that The Dude is participating in at his office. We're winging it this week with recipes from Prevention Magazines 28 day challenge. I plan to do full meal-prep this weekend. I'm excited about this. I hate feeling rushed to come up with dinner during the week, since we both have busy schedules. I don't always know if he'll make it by for dinner and I feel awful if he shows up and I didn't cook. Meal-prep to the rescue!!

YTT has taken full control of my schedule, and I couldn't be happier. I have to plan my 2 community classes soon, and am working on my 1 hour children's yoga lesson plan, trying to squeeze in practice with friends and family, AND working toward some big opportunities for public classes soon! Yeeks! #yogaeverydamnday #heavilymeditated

...oh, and I lerrrrve pranayama. If you aren't practicing breathing exercises, ask me about them. You need them in your life.

Co-garden has returned for year 3! Tilled, and ready. I had an emergency planting session after work on Tuesday because a few cucumbers, the kale, and the zucchini were looking sad. Hoes crossed that it will be a bountiful season!

OKC Memorial Run to Remember is just 3.5 weeks away! I've switched to the 1/2 if you didn't know. I had finally come to terms with it, and felt happy about my choice. ...until this morning. I looked at my bib hanger that M made me last year and thought 'Oh, I was going to finally get that 26.2 spot filled....dang'. So, I'm a little sad today. Meh. I'll survive. #runnerprobs

Have a great day!
