It really is the early aughts

I'm not on FB. Scrubs is back. People are wearing wired headphones. Being outside is cool again.  Let the wind blow through my hair, I cannot believe it, I think we're about to ignite the analog fires.  Calgon take me away, this is like watching the Summer '08 Olympics. I was younger. I didn't have social media. I was unbothered by politics. Save for the 90s, those were the days.  Here we come!

I deleted Facebook. Again. May 2018 I decided to quit Facebook. I sat in my OB/GYNs office discussing anxiety and worry and all the other issues that a mid-30s gal might face at that time. At some point I said '...and then I see all the news, real and fake on Facebook and I just get bogged down'. I had said many things before that, but to that she said 'You know you can quit Facebook if you want.' Of course I knew that. Didn't I? I had thought about it. I had considered it, maybe. Did I know I could actually do it?...... So I did. Well, I deactivated it. Same thing, no one could find me. I did have a business profile though, I kept that to manage a small public service that I provided and the page was used for scheduling and announcements. No friends. I didn't follow anyone.  For 8 years that business profile has stood alone. I no longer use it, I no longer provide my service, but I still had the page. I joined a local PSA group for road closures and ribbon cut...

Back?  Not really. At least I don't think so. Who has time for a comeback? We all want a comeback, but how? When? And why? Of course I've had plenty of great conversations in my head (and out loud with my steering wheel) over the years but those float off into space and only the Heavens here me. No one is recording, no notes. How would I recreate those here for your enjoyment?  Sorry to tell you, I can't.  I could try to put pen to paper, if you will. here as they come up, but I'm not available that much.  Do you work full-time? Do you have family? Did you go back to college? Do you like to sleep? Me too. That leaves little time for blogging.  I did find myself reminiscing today though, on a Thursday no less. Shouldn't it be Khaki Thursday? Or TWPICK Thursday? Or even TOWPICK Thursday? It could be. It's actually TPPIOK Thursday I guess. (those pink pants instead of khaki). I can't even find a good pair of khaki pants anymore. That's a rant for another d...

Happy Khaki Thursday, running dangers, and stuffs!

Hideo-ho! I was up at 5am to run 2 miles with my new running friend. She is a veteran marathoner that took some time off and is trying to get back to her old running routine. What this means for me is that I have someone that loves and understands running, AND runs at my pace now! Things I hope to get out of this: 1: Not get killed alone in the pre-dawn hours 2: Increase my pace by running with someone that trains harder than me 3: Decrease the girth of my ankles (maybe not a possibility) 4: Form a new friendship 5: Not get killed alone in the pre-dawn hours (this is very important, and very possible) We met at 5:15 and got in 2 miles. 11:04/pm pace. Very hilly route. This is the only way I'll get hills. I don't volunteer to run hills. Ever. I do run this stretch of road often because it's just part of the route I run, and let me tell ya, IT. IS. HILLY. Up and down for a straight mile. She's a hill runner. I thought I pushed it on hills. This is going to be ...

Friday, you're fired! I'm lazy. What to do this weekend?

Friday is a hair puller so far. I just looked up and it's already after 12! That is good, but where did my morning go? I didn't make it to the track again. Neighbor had a headache and I wasn't arguing with my pillow about getting up and going alone. Heck. No.  I slept. After not getting enough sleep Wednesday night, I wasn't passing on an extra 2 hours today. ________________________________________________________________________ Stuff to do? Most of my family is on vacation in Indiana so my dad is home alone. Earlier in the week I thought I'd be driving to that part of the state, but that changed. Poor dad. I don't have any plans, but I really need to open the windows and dust the house. Maybe he'll come visit and can help me clean. Hahahaha. Oh, so speaking of the house, I need to pick out a new sink for the bathroom. That should go on my 'to do' list. Co-garden got a hair cut last night. It looks SOOOO much better. I'm not...

The final Act, oversleeping, Perseids meteor shower, and other things.

I scooted to work today because it was 68 degrees when I woke up. I didn't know it could be that cold out! I'm so excited. Don't be fooled though, it will reach mid-upper 90s by days end, but the cooler mornings are such a relief. I overslept today. I went to bed at 9:22 last night, and after a few nighty-night texts I drifted off. I thought I was so responsible to get to bed on time so I could run like the wind this morning. At 6am I woke to my mom texting me.... which means I slept through my track alarm, and my neighbors "are you coming" text, and my neighbors phone call. She was probably standing in the driveway all suited up, all alone, and I was just sleeping away. I'm horrible. Now I'll have to make that up on Saturday. Boooo. Oh, I made cold brew last night. I hate making it with the soak method because you have to filter it and that takes FOREVER. It wasn't even that good. I must've mis-measured and it was too weak. Blah. ____________...

Put on your apron, and let's do all the things!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's Tuesday, finally. Did you think that Monday was going to last forever? I did! Last night we made Blue Apron meal #3. Mexican style chicken tortas with tomato, cucumber, and avocado salad. Our avocado went bad before we could get to this meal, but he wasn't heartbroken about that. I was. :(  The sandwiches and salad were sans avo, but you'd never know. Also, I skipped the cilantro given the recent illnesses in the news. I doubt mine was part of that, but just to be safe. (remember 'sketchy burrito' back in March? we don't want to go down that road again) We started with marinating red onion in red wine vinegar. Half was for the salad, and half was for the sandwiches. The salad was made of diced tomato, diced cucumber, avocado (omitted), sliced, marinated onion, salt and pepper, and a little olive oil. I squeezed a lime wedge over it also since I didn't need it for the avocado. The chicken was seasoned with a premade season mix. I...

Tuesday is not Monday, that's why we're doing all the things!

Soooo many pictures!!!!!!  I did make it to the gym this morning, thank you very much. I worked up a sweat like nobody's business. Really. Nobody wanted any part of that business, it was gross. We are in week 4 of the 12 week program. It's not going the way it was intended, as we both slacked last week due to school work (her) and vacation (moi). Regardless, we aren't giving up. She has gained 2 lbs since school started and I'm just not at the fitness level I'd like to be. We will keep going, and I'll keep you posted on our progress. Today: 7 mins, 2 rounds each. Repeat. 10 burpees 20 jump lunges 24 step up w/ knee up 15 sumo squats 100 reps jump rope 24 walking lunges 30 reverse lunge w/knee up 15 jump squats We finished almost 2 rounds of each, only being a bit short on the 4th exercise of the second round. Dead. D.E.D Dead. Yay fitness. I'm eating free Oreo's that I discovered in the lunch room right now... _______________________...

Oh blog friends, how are you?? I'm a little more tan, a little more tired, and a little more tense. Back to reality, but back to the good part of reality. I went to Florida last week, in case you didn't know. I stayed with my sister, nephew, and niece. I ran some, I slept some, I swam some, and I ate some. I'll share all the deets with you tomorrow, ugh, I just used 'deets', I hate that. I have some pictures to share also. For today lets just take a moment of silence for our loss of freedom because we had to come back to work...... Ok! The 2 best, best, best parts of the whole trip were seeing Prell in Florida, and the dude came home. Getting away from it all is much better when some of it is still around. I had a fantastic time with my 'home' gal on vacation, and a fantastic time coming home to see my fave. Thanks for checking back today. I hope you weren't too disappointed that I wasn't around a lot last week. Even part-time bloggers ...

I did things today

Hello there! Greetings from SEOK. It's hot, it's hot, and it's hot. The good news today is that it's my FRIDAY!!!! Shhhh, don't tell anyone, I don't like my business being made public. I will tell you that I won't be at work for the rest of the week, but I'm not saying what I'm doing. So don't go snooping around my house trying to find out where I am. Weirdos. I plan to run this week, so I have that going for me. I'll keep you posted on how it goes, and if I keep up with R4G's half marathon training. Today I get my new tooth too! So hillbilly. Since I won't be available much this week, I thought I'd share all the things I've been doing since last (real) Friday. ______________________________________________________________________ I visited my parents, brother, SIL, nephews, and niece! Dad isn't a big fan of pictures. Sometimes I can get him to pose, but this trip was not one of those times. Mom was...
